SIG-1 DISCUSSION

Proposal

In the last SIG-1 meeting of 4 September 2001 we had a discussion about the name and decided to stay for the time being to Rehab Robotics. I like to elaborate a little more on the name and because of the following reason.

Rehab Robotic is only addressing the subject rehab robotics and SIG-1 is liked to be a meeting point of more. Therefore I propose the name "smart control" inside.
Thus: the Special Interest Group on SMART CONTROL INSIDE.
For Rehab Robotics, Active therapy, Smart mobility (wheelchairs), smart houses.
This covers the field where "actuators" are involved. It will remain of course in AAATE, so it might also be SMART CONTROL INSIDE AT.

With this in mind it means that we can propose for the 2003 AAATE in Dublin to the scientific organisation committee to have a plenary session about these subjects. And we propose to have 4 or 5 paper sessions on above mentioned subjects where we can invite other than technical disciplines (clinical, therapy, etc.) to have e.g. workshops.
