SIG-1 MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR

AAATE SIG-1 Robotics

Those attending the congress in Llubljana from 3-6 September 2001 were right. It is a wonderful friendly atmosphere in Llubljana and we had fruitful discussions around:

the 4 papers in robotics for therapy and training
the 4 papers in robotics for independent living
the SIG-1 general meeting

and with the colleagues from other disciplines, as therapy, clinical experts, etc.

That is what makes this come together in AAATE useful apart from meeting each other. We learned from presentations of the EU-commission that robotics is still an area not warmly embraced for our target area. Nevertheless I talked to 2 officers (one from 1ST and on from Qol) what might be useful for them and for us. One can think of a thematic network e.g. As soon as any progress is made you will be informed and contacted for involvement.
